On May 8th, 2014, Thai Stick authors Peter Maguire and Mike Ritter along with former DEA agent Jim Conklin (who is featured in the book) appeared together on HuffPostLive, a live-streaming network that covers a wide variety of topics and areas of interest, focusing on the most popular sections and sites on HuffingtonPost.com.

The 22 minute segment was hosted by Ricky Camilleri and featured Peter Maguire in the NY studio as well as Mike Ritter and Jim Conklin via Skype and Google Hangout.  They cover the history of Thai sticks (including what they are exactly) and how the Thai marijuana trade got started. Surfers following the Hippie Trail always in search of time and freedom (and pot to smoke themselves) eventually became smugglers handling lucrative loads totaling $2k per pound in the 1970’s.

Listen to the authors answer questions and expound on the rise and fall of the Thai marijuana trade, the influence this movement had on the War on Drugs, and the state of the drugs in America today: ‘Thai Stick’ Lights Up Cross-Pacific Drug Rings
